Oracle To Open Abu Dhabi Data Centre Soon

Dubai: Oracle will open its first cloud data center in the Middle East and Africa in Abu Dhabi between May and August, in an attempt to keep pace with its growing customer base in the region, said a senior official.
Thomas Kurian, president of product development at Oracle, told Gulf News in an exclusive interview that the cloud data center in Abu Dhabi will be the 29th global center of the company.

"If we do not have data centers, it will be difficult to offer services, there are areas where there is no data center, we offer a data service where the business is highly regulated or in a country where we can not The data stays under your roof, but they are managed and controlled by Oracle, "he said.

Strategy

According to research firm International Data Corporation, public spending on the cloud in the region is expected to grow to 1.1 billion dollars (4 billion dirhams) this year, against 952 million dollars last year.
Megha Kumar, director of software research at IDC, said the UAE's strategy on artificial intelligence and IoT will be supported by the basic infrastructure for carrying out these projects.
Kurian said the company hopes to attract more public cloud customers with the opening of the Abu Dhabi data center and act as a key enabler for the implementation of the UAE's fourth industrial revolution strategy.
Etisalat is the telecommunications partner for the data center.
Arun Khehar, senior vice president of applications in Oracle Eastern Central Europe, Middle East, Africa, said there is a great opportunity in the cloud for Oracle for three main reasons: Smart City Expo 2020, Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia Vision 2030 and Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.
